British cyclist Chris Froome has claimed his third Tour de France title this month (July), finishing the race in Paris nearly three minutes before his closest contender, Frenchman Romain Bardet who came second. The third place on the podium was taken by Nairo Quintana.
Froome was quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying: “It’s an absolutely amazing feeling. It feels like a privilege to be in this position. I’ve always had my team mates around me. This race was even tougher. We haven’t won the team competition but by far we’ve had the strongest team here - I’m incredibly grateful for that.”
Thousands of English fans applauded wildly along the Champs-Elysees when Froome was presented with his latest yellow jersey, cementing himself as one of the truly great cyclists the country has ever produced.

It tells the tale of Froome from a young boy growing up in Kenya (riding past wild animals!) to the moment he claimed his unforgettable victor back in the 2013 Tour de France.
Now he’s got this Tour de France under his belt, he can focus increasingly on the upcoming Olympics. Froome’s got an Olympic road race on August 6th, followed by a Time Trial on the 10th.
